Where can I find clear casting resin?

In Salt Lake City Utah if that helps. Would it be a hardware store? Also how easy is it to use?Where can I find clear casting resin?
If you want a *casting* resin (to use in a mold), you'll generally want to use a polyester resin that's sold for arts and crafts (not for making fiberglass). The other main type of craft resin is epoxy resin, but it's mostly used for coating things and pouring into *shallow* cells, not in molds.

There is one brand of ';epoxy resin'; however that has been tweaked so that it can be cast into molds (small amounts anyway) without having the problems that regular epoxy resins can have when they're poured thicker than 1/2'; in total (may not be as clear when thick)... that brand is called Easy Cast Clear Casting Epoxy Resin. It has the disadvantage though of being a bit flexible if it's not very thick and having a softer surface than regular epoxy resins... those problems will show up more if the cured item is later exposed to warmth (even from wearing on the body).

Easy Cast is the ';safest'; of the casting resins though for lungs, etc.... regular epoxies require some ventilation and care, and polyester resins require a lot of ventilation and stink quite a bit.

You can buy various kinds and brands of resin at craft stores, hobby stores, and art supply stores (as well as online). You can also find them at some hardware stores (particularly the smaller ones like Ace, etc.)

You can usually buy ';bar top resin'; at even larger hardware/home improvement stores as well... those are the same as regular epoxy resins but will come in somewhat larger containers for a little less money by volume.

If you want to check out some of the brand names for all those resins --plus how to mix them, apply them, cure them, etc.-- check out this page at my site for lots of info, lessons, etc:

As for ';ease,'; there are always things to learn about doing anything, and using resins is no exception %26lt;g%26gt;. Lots of people do it though.
